The move would make a lot of sense if work needed to be done on a new RPG project. We reported back in the summer of 2018 that Playground was assembling talent from Bioware and Ninja Theory. There have been multiple reports of studio expansion which further field rumors that the team was up to more than just racing. Playground gained notoriety for its work on the Forza Horizon series and the studio was officially acquired by Microsoft in 2018. There have been rumors within the gaming industry for years that Microsoft had been working on reviving the Fable franchise under developer Playground Games. Many expected to get a closer look at the project during E3 2021, but Fable failed to make an appearance. Microsoft tossed these folks a bone last year when the formally announced development on a franchise revival from developed Playground Games. Despite the lack of a standout title for many years, Fable diehards have been eagerly anticipating a new game in the series. From its beginnings at Lionhead Studios to the canceled Fable Legends in 2016, the series has experienced some of the highest highs and lowest lows. As a staple franchise for the Xbox brand, Fable has earned millions of fans over the years. Still, it’s tempting to try to change someone who doesn’t want to change, as if your sheer will and desire for them to improve will change them (as it has you). The only way that people change is through the desire and wherewithal to change themselves. There’s only one person in this world you can truly change-yourself-and even that takes a tremendous amount of effort. If you don’t fix what’s going on inside, no external event or item is going to make you happy, no matter how much you want it to.Ĩ. Too many of us expect a future event (“I’ll be happy when I get that promotion”) to make us happy, instead of looking more deeply into the real causes of our unhappiness. Sure, things can make life more fun and comfortable in the short run, but they can’t make you happy in the long run. Otherwise, you’ll limit the chances of that happening.ħ. If you fail, accept that sometimes you’ll fail and sometimes you’ll succeed, but if you pursue an endeavor, believe with all your being that you’re going to succeed in that endeavor. As I’ve touched upon already, if you expect to fail, you stand a higher chance of creating the very outcome you’re worried about. Communication isn’t anything if it isn’t clear, and your communication won’t be clear until you take the time to understand the other person’s perspective.Ħ. Whether you’re asking someone to do something without providing the context or explaining a complex concept behind a big project, it’s easy to leave out relevant information because you don’t think it’s necessary. You can’t expect people to understand you just because you’re talking-you have to be clear. People can’t read your mind, and what you’re trying to say is rarely what other people hear. Instead, focus on how you can find solutions that give everyone what they need.ĥ. Something that’s obvious to you might not be so to someone with different experiences and a different agenda, so stop being offended when people disagree with you, and stop assuming that there is only one right answer (yours). Sure, you know what you’re talking about, and for that reason, people should take you seriously, but expecting people to agree with you out of courtesy or because your ideas are so incredibly sound is another story. Instead of expecting that people will like you, focus on earning their trust and respect.Ĥ. (You can’t win them all.) When you assume that people are going to like you, you take shortcuts you start making requests and demands before you’ve laid the groundwork to really understand what the other person is thinking and feeling. When you think that everyone should like you, you end up with hurt feelings when you shouldn’t. People have hang ups, and that means all sorts of decent, kind, respectable people are not liked by (some) others, for no good reason at all. When you take action, think “what steps do I need to take?” “what obstacles are in my way and what do I need to do to remove them?” and “what mistakes am I making that take me away from my goals rather than toward them?”ģ. If we limit ourselves to what’s given to us, we are at the mercy of other people. You have to put in the hard work, then go and get what’s yours. Just because you deserve a raise, a promotion, or a company car, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. One of the most important things a person can do is stick his or her neck out and seek opportunity. When something “unfair” happens, don’t rely on outside forces to get you back on your feet. If you’re stuck in that mindset, it’s time to get over it (work on your emotional intelligence if this is a struggle for you). A surprising number of us subconsciously expect life to be fair, and we believe that any unfairness that we experience will somehow be balanced out, even if we don’t do anything about it. We’ve all been told a million times (and likely told other people) that life isn’t fair, but in spite of what we know about the intricacies of injustice, it’s a concept that doesn’t quite sink in in practice. Be especially wary of the expectations that follow-they give people all kinds of trouble.ġ. You need to be extra careful about (and aware of) the expectations you harbor as the wrong ones make life unnecessarily difficult. They can change your life, emotionally and physically. In my third year as an undergraduate student, I decided I didn’t want to pay to attend a summer festival but wanted to see if I could actually make money while not in school. Since Csehy, I have attended several other festivals, varying in size and type, including the Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF), Curtis Summerfest, Boston University Tanglewood Institute Horn Workshop, the All-City Philadelphia Orchestra’s Italy tour, Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, and the Atlantic Brass Quintet Seminar. Csehy was the first place I ever played a horn: my mom told the horn teacher that I was interested, so she let me blow a few notes on her horn, and I was hooked. While our parents were teaching, I would hang out with the other faculty members’ children, but when I was old enough, I started attending as a camper for another 4 or 5 years. My mom was on the faculty of the Csehy Summer School of Music, and I started going with her to camp around the age of five. I have been involved in music festivals every summer for as long as I can remember. Working seriously on both, I could see more clearly that both were part of my deepest essence. That's when I thought, "What if I combined the two abilities?" So I did. After a few years, I started to study singing with the same determination with which I studied horn, and I felt a noticeable difference when playing the horn. Singing helped me better understand the challenges of being a horn player. And earlier this year, I learned that I had been accepted into the master’s program at the Eastman School of Music where I will begin study this fall.īut what about singing? Where does it come from? I started singing in church in Sarzedo with my brother and sister after I had already begun playing the horn. In 2020, I was selected to participate in a chamber music festival in Portillo, Chile. In 2019, I was selected to be part of The Orchestra of the Americas Mexico tour. In 2015, I attended a Baroque Music Seminar in Rostock, Germany. I have also been able to learn about other cultures outside of Brazil, and these opportunities provided me with a great deal of musical and professional maturity. Among other educational experiences are several masterclasses with national and international teachers as well as some competitions in which I was a prize winner. After this, I was invited to be a guest musician with the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra where I continue to play. A few years later, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in horn from the State University of Minas Gerais. Music started to be part of my life when I was 11 years old through the Musical Project in Sarzedo where I was introduced to the horn. My name is Weverton Santos, and I am a Brazilian from Sarzedo city in the state of Minas Gerais. Print Overview and Timeline (pdf, 424 KB) These efforts revolutionized stroke care, and the success of tPA set the stage for additional approved treatments after decades of little hope for effective interventions. Most notably, NINDS scientists recognized the importance of urgent treatment for acute stroke and pioneered efforts to develop protocols for assessing and treating patients with unprecedented speed. When administered quickly after stroke onset (within three hours, as approved by the FDA), tPA helps to restore blood flow to brain regions affected by a stroke, thereby limiting the risk of damage and functional impairment. Known by the generic name alteplase and marketed as Activase® (Genentech), tPA is given to patients through an IV in the arm, and it works by dissolving blood clots that block blood flow to the brain. Another major advance was the clot-dissolving medicine tPA (for tissue plasminogen activator), the first treatment for acute ischemic stroke to receive Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. Accordingly, the death rate from stroke in the U.S. Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability both globally and in the U.S., where approximately 800,000 people experience a stroke each year 1.Īlthough stroke remains a critical health issue, better management of cardiovascular risk factors, greater awareness of symptoms, and prompt medical attention are helping to prevent strokes and improve outcomes. A stroke occurs when the blood supply to brain tissue is blocked by a blood clot (ischemic stroke), or when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures (hemorrhagic stroke), causing brain cells to die and leading to functional impairments. If you need phosphorite, you either have to dig it up, or set up a ranch. At present, it is not clear whether these values are primary isotopic compositions corresponding, e.g., to the oxygen isotope composition of phosphate builders included in detergents (delta(18)O(P)=17.9 per thousand), or represent secondary values reflecting biological recycling of the phosphate in equilibrium with ambient WTP water The restricted difference in isotopic composition obtained between phosphate from fertilizers and phosphate from WTP discharge waters (/=1.5 per thousand), cast doubt about the possibility that the oxygen isotope composition could serve as a tracer for the source of anthropogenic phosphates in waters. High-precision oxygen isotope analyses were carried out on dissolved phosphate extracted from discharge waters from three wastewater treatment plants (WTP) located in western France, as well as on the different phosphate-based fertilizers applied by farmers in the same region. The soundtrack, composed by Yann Latour, is deeply soothing and blends perfectly with the vibe of the city and each of its varied districts. The voice acting is well done, and with everything being fully voice acted, you get a lot more of a feeling for each character and their personalities. There’s humour in the dialogue, from the sushi chef making a joke about a looping animation to save on disk space to the electronics store owner mentioning the familiarity of Darude Sandstorm. You’ll be able to interact with people you meet, and your conversations will vary depending on which of the two characters you are actively controlling, with some NPCs requiring either Tina or Sam to prompt particular conversations in order to progress. On occasion you’ll reach certain points in the story that will trigger short cutscenes, which enhances the story with the actions of the evil Mayor Rumpf, the secrets your father had been working on (and that you must uncover), and more. The streets are peppered with ‘cyber junkies’ VR addicts that spend every waking moment tapped into cyberspace, and it really makes the world appear quite bleak. Each location is heavily detailed, which really helps to make the world feel deep and fleshed out, despite being quite small. The visual style of Encodya is gorgeous, with a Studio Ghibli-esque look to the world and the characters within. The crux of the story is that Tina and SAM must uncover whatever secrets may be held within SAM’s coding, put there by Tina’s father when she was just a small baby - before he disappeared, and before her mother’s passing. Exploring environments, looking for any items that might be of use, and keeping an eye out for anything to interact with, and exhausting all of the conversations with available NPCs there were a few moments that I did find myself to be searching the same areas repeatedly, unable to figure out what to do, or what item(s) to use or combine, but with a bit of trial and error, I’d get there eventually. If you’ve ever played classic LucasArts titles like Tales of Monkey Island, then you’ll know what to expect here. You’ll take control of both characters, being able to swap between them on the fly Tina was who I controlled for the bulk of the gameplay, as she is much quicker to move, only switching to SAM when I required him for something out of reach, to move heavy items, or for specific dialogue with NPCs. Set in Neo Berlin in the year 2062, Chaosmonger Studio’s Encodya is a point-and-click adventure that tells the tale of a 9-year-old girl named Tina and her robot companion SAM-53. One would assume a battery rated at 100 amp-hours would carry a 1-amp load for 100 hours but this may not be the case.īatteries usually are rated using a 20-hour test. It is best to be a bit conservative when it comes to rated amp-hour capacity. Almost all monitors will need to be programmed with the battery type and rated amp-hour capacity of the battery or battery bank. Once again, initial setup is critical for getting accurate results. To get accurate results, a monitor needs to know about the battery or battery bank it will be monitoring. Some units will use a battery temperature sensor to monitor battery temperature as well. When properly installed, a shunt is used in the main negative battery cable to measure amperage flow. With these units the initial setup is important to the accuracy of the results. They then apply built-in software or firmware to calculate SOC. The most common monitors use amp counting combined with known battery type, size and condition. Only one monitor, the Balmar Smartgauge uses voltage alone to calculate SOC. Modern system monitors work by ether totaling amps in and out of the battery bank or by measuring voltage combined with amp usage to calculate the overall condition of the battery bank. Fortunately, as technology has advanced so have electrical system monitors. It also is not possible to do with sealed batteries. This, of course, is not easy to do and is often messy. The only other practical way of knowing the state of charge was by measuring the specific gravity of the electrolyte in the battery. At best, amp meters tend to be confusing at worst, they will give false indications of what is going on. They also are not at all useful for judging the SOC or condition of the battery. Amp meters that track current flow can only indicate what is being used at a particular moment in time and do not track usage over an extended period of time. A voltmeter can still be a good indicator of battery condition but it does little to tell just how much power is going in and out of the battery. It was not so long ago that the only tools available to keep track of a battery’s state of charge (SOC) and what was going in and out were volt and amp meters. Understanding how much reserve energy is left in a battery and how much needs to be put back into it to get back up to a fully charged state is affected by battery type, age, condition, and even temperature. One alternative to using a system monitor is regularly checking the specific gravity of the electrolyte, but that’s only an option for flooded cell batteries and means messing with battery acid. Batteries will last longer and work better if not routinely over-discharged. This makes it even more important to know just how much “juice” is left in the batteries. And while a fuel tank can be drained close to the bottom, it can be harmful to a battery to deplete it below 50 percent of its full capacity. This makes it relatively straightforward to calculate when more fuel is needed.Īlthough electricity can be measured, it is not quite as easy to track and there are often many sources going in and out of the battery all at the same time. A skipper knows how much fuel goes into the tank and how much is used by their engines. The fuel level in a tank can be measured with a gauge or sometimes just by taking a look inside. The monitors discussed here will focus on the more common lead-acid battery types.īatteries store energy like a fuel tank, but measuring just how much energy is left in a battery is not so easy. They also require special charging and monitoring when setting them. Although lithium-ion batteries are coming of age, they are still not cost-effective and have some serious drawbacks for use in boats. These are still a cost-effective solution to storing electrical power aboard a boat. Although battery technology is rapidly advancing as well, most vessels still use standard flooded lead-acid, gel cell or AGM batteries. The heart of every vessel’s electrical system is, of course, its batteries. These units provide voyagers with information about the state of their boat’s electrical system in general and on the condition of their batteries in particular. That’s where electrical system monitors come in. Today’s onboard electrical systems continue to get more sophisticated and more complicated, making it increasingly important to keep track of the health and status of the electrical system. We encourage children, through process, to discover for themselves. Rather than give children answers, we help children to construct their own theories, make predictions and test those theories. We develop a safe, sensory-based environment where children have amble opportunities to move freely in different ways and a rich variety of materials to manipulate.
